Devil's Food Cake

1/2 cup soft margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 TBSP cocoa
3/4 tsp red liquid coloring
1 tsp salt
3 TBSP hot coffee
1 7/8 cups flour (2 cups minus 2 TBSP)
1 tsp solda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla

Cream marg. & sugar. Add beaten eggs. Put cocoa, red coloring & hot coffee in a small bowl and mix, then add to sugar mixture & mix well. Mix flour, salt & soda together and add alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Bake in two greased and floured 8" pans at 350 degrees for 35 - 40 minutes (toothpick should come out clean). Cool on wire racks.
